My name is Patrick Marckesano, creator of She Stirs (dubbed “Junko Junsui” by fans after a character in the story). I think it’s a shame that some members of the ‘ARG community’ are so close-minded to new types of interactive experiences…
A few things should be noted:
1) Our launch was a mere teaser to a much larger project in production. And yet in a mere month we gained 6 million page views worldwide (Junko Junsui is a well known cultural meme among Chilean youth, amusingly).
2) We never set out to make an ARG. Our teaser was instead an experimental exercise hoping to accomplish several things…
A – We hoped to repurpose certain forms within electronic media and in doing so blend the line between fiction and reality. For instance, it is a fact that our Russian PMC, Alfa-Tsentr was established so convincingly online that it received earnest job inquiries from real military mercenaries as well as an invitation to visit Pyongyang from the foreign ministry of North Korea. (We were also investigated by US Army intel, Russian Interpol, the US Justice Department and other assorted government agencies during the course of our exercise.)
B – We hoped to set up an adversarial social dynamic wherein multiple sides competed against each other in a kind of intelligence / counterintelligence warfare. This ethos obviously contradicts the ‘massive pool’ of information found typically in ARGs and such dynamic will play a heavy role in our forthcoming release. You see, we have a novel way of repurposing the entire Internet. No more, “in-game” or “out-of-game”. The player opts in, and then the game takes over, sometimes when they least suspect it.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, an English blogger did some pretty impressive subject-focused postings on events which transpired during our teaser…

I cannot say too much more other than we have something in the works that goes way beyond current ARGs or social games. And yet there are elements from both that one might recognize in our new synthesis. Furthermore, we have the involvement of some major players in the gaming, film, music, and internet technology industries. This is not another promotion for a preexisting film or video game. Rather we are devising a way to sustain major budget, original story productions within the online medium.
Happy New Year!
Regards,
Patrick Marckesano
